Why Pet Portraits?

Long tail, short tail, or no tail at all, pets are a part of our family. They don’t live as long as we do but make a huge impact on our lives.  A pet portrait in the soft medium of pastel will last your whole life. Pictures can fade, get lost or tear, but a portrait on the wall will be a constant reminder of the charm, character, and great joy our pets bring into our lives.  I did a portrait of one of my dogs that hangs on my family room wall.  If I get flowers, she gets a small vase of some too.

No matter how many pets you have in a life time, at least one of them is still living in your heart that you will never forget. I call them “soul pets.”  Do you have a soul pet yet?

There are 2 new babies in our family now, an 11 month chihuahua (Krystal) and a 7 month silky terrier(Mikie). I love watching them run around. When they are outside, they charge across the yard after each other and then Mikie will stop, crouch down, spy Krystal, creep up and pounce.  Do you have a funny story to share? I’d love to hear about it.

If you’re in the Albuquerque area this weekend (3/19,20), come out to the Ultimate Home Show on the fairgrounds. I will have a booth there and you can see the quality of my work and feel the love and affection I share with you towards animals.
